ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
I've met people who've done it all themselves. I'm not one of them. Without the help
of dozens of folk, this effort would be nothing but a dream. I guarantee
I'm going to forget some folks here. My appologies to them. They aren't being slighted
but my memory is following the same course as my hearing and eyes.
Without the help of some of the Hot Shots' kids we certainly wouldn't have
the pictures and information we have. Hezzie's son Paul Trietsch, Frank's daughter
Carol (Kettering) Whitaker, Gil's son Gil Taylor and Tim Ward, Gabes son.
Like all curators I've bothered them to the point only one of them still speaks to me.
Then there's Tom Rudy, rocket scientist, lover of good music and an inspiration.
John Frew. John has put so much into advancing the musical knowledge of the Hot Shots with
his never ending quests. Keeps me hopping. Larry Fry is a merchant. Boy does he
come up with some great material. And, when we can't afford it he makes sure we have a copy
anyway.
Mark Kratzner knows his Hoosiers and shares his knowledge. Then there's a media guy
in Indianapolis named Dave Smith who was nice enough to send us a WFYI tape about the Hoosiers
and help us along the way. Blown hard drive and blown brain. Sorry about not remembering names too well.
Tim Grayson slices prices to the bone. There's a guy in Baltimore that provided us
with great WLS material. I lost his name. Ever met Jimiimij? We're busy right now with some phenominal 1941 National Barn Dance
numbers recorded off the air. He found these old records and has cleaaned them up and soon we'll have his material in the listening room. If you want to see more of Jimiimij's work, visit www.ohms.nu
Christine Ward shared her personal letters and phots. Mike Silverman
shared the sounds of Gabe with us.
Paul Yacich has helped us with detailed information on a couple of the Hot Shots best numbers. We'd share that information with you here but we'd be repeating ourselves from another page. Hey, New Orleans must be an okay place, both Paul and George Buck live around there.
We'd have no movie section without the generous research and
formatting of Les Adams.
And Wayne Daniel. Researcher, writer and one who makes us dig deeper. And Wendell Echols went out into the dark nether reaches of the old warehouse to get us information on World (not to mention the Circle CD he was instrumental in getting going.
And, of course, Paul Moore of the Washboard Wizards, Ezra Dixie's group and a couple other is always keeping us up to date on changes.
And you to can make this list. Memories, photos and sounds all make for a better sites. Photos and music are copied and returned (you'd be surprised haow many of the things you see at museums are copies).
